How to Know God

Every person was created to know God, yet our sin has separated us from Him. But God, in His love, made a way for us to be forgiven and restored through Jesus Christ—this is the hope of the gospel.
Our Problem
Whether you realize it or not, we all desire to know God personally. God has created life and is worthy of our love (Genesis 1:1).
Inspire of this, we have chosen to disobey Him and sin against Him. All of us have done wrong and failed to do what is right in God's eyes. the Bible calls this sin. We may not be more sinful than our others, or we may be far worse than anyone we know, it does not matter (Romans 3:23).
Our sin means we are guilty before God. (1 John 1:8).
Our Only Hope
Because God is perfect and good, he cannot overlook our sin. God cannot turn His head to it, brush it under the rug, or "just let it go." The Bible says "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23) meaning that the fair payment for our rebellion against God is death. Death is what we deserve.
In His perfection, God sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to earth. Jesus lived in this world and did what we could not: lived a perfect life fully pleasing to God. Jesus was sinless.
Jesus was crucified on the cross even though He was perfect and didn't deserve it. He received the punishment that we deserved. He was the perfect sacrifice, He was put into our place and took on Himself the sentence of death that should have been ours. (Romans 5:8)
Jesus did not remain dead. After three days, He rose from the grave and later ascended into heaven. He will return for all those who are trusting in Him as their Savior.
Jesus died for the sins of the world, but this means He also died for your sin. Jesus was willing to die so that your sin could be forgiven.

Jesus gave His life for you so that you could be forgiven. To repent means to turn—to turn away from sin and toward Jesus. It begins by admitting you are a sinner, desiring to leave that sin behind, and asking Him to forgive you. If you do, He promises to forgive you fully and make you new. It doesn't matter what your past is - He will not turn you away.
How Can You Be Saved?
God is present everywhere and hears you when you pray. You can be saved right now by admitting you are a sinner and asking Him to forgive you. If you are unsure what to say, you can pray something like this:

"God I admit that I have sinned against you and my sin deserves death. I believe that Jesus died in my place, taking the penalty I deserved. Lord forgive my sin - there is nothing I can do to earn, deserve, or be good enough to be forgiven. It is only by Your grace. Come into my life, cleanse me of my sin, and help me to live for you."

Now What?
If you prayed this prayer, you can be sure you are saved. 1 John 5:13 "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life..." What a glorious day it is  for you!
